Drawing of the Call/ Called to Purpose
Scripture: Exodus 3:1-12
Verse 1: God leads us into training and we never even know it. We have to become consistent and it usually happens when we make a true and solid decision. We usually do not make that type of decision until we are isolated from distractions. We have to get away from children, friends, family, and things that are stressful. We have to get to a place to focus. Moses no longer had servants or special privileges. There were many people surrounding him, but he had no time for games. He had to take time to learn about himself. He had to understand this new realized identity. We have to raise our bar of thinking in order to come to the place to meet God. That is the place of surrender. We have to let go of our familiarity of thinking and processing situations and submit to God and learn how to see how He sees.
Verse 2: When things get hot in life, it is the drawing of the call. Things begin to burn to get our attention. It is a signal for us to seek Him more or to begin to seek Him. It is a signal for us to draw closer and reach higher. We need to be curious about God and what He is up to so we can be a part of the movement in that hour. God attracts us and wants us to turn our focus to Him. We may feel pressure. We may even burn but will not be consumed. The three Hebrew boys were tossed in the fiery furnace which represents that God is a consuming fire. It was in the fire that Jesus appeared and loosed the chains. We will not know how great God is until we are placed in situations that only He can get us out of. God never burns but consumes. We must consume our circumstances and allow them to make us better and not bitter. They do not have the power to take us out. We are like our Father and can become the fire and be a vehicle for others to be delivered.
Verse 3: A great experience. We have to want more in order to see more. We have to think beyond the usual. We have to conceive the greater in our minds and embrace it. We must inquire and obtain understanding because this gives us more access to the Most High.
Verse 4: God will respond when you really want to know. A divine exchange is necessary. Divine exchange is trading our weakness for His strength. It is healing for sickness. It is joy for sadness. It is faith for fear. It is boldness for discouragement. It is the divine replacement for whatever is unproductive in our lives.
Verse 5: We have to enter into the presence of the Lord with humble hearts. We have to recognize who He is and reverence His sovereignty. We must know when we are in His presence and know how to act. The posture of our hearts, minds, and attitudes must be in righteousness and submission.
Verse 6: God introduces Himself to us in the midst of circumstances, curiosity, pain, rejection, distress, etc. Some people are scared of what God will do to them and never partake of the grace that can save them. The godly fear is to recognize our own insignificance without Him and recognize His greatness. He is the ultimate authority and we must honor Him.
Verse 7: When God is attempting to get our attention, we have to listen to find out why. He will always reveal Himself and His intentional plan and purpose. He may not give every step but He will always give enough for us to know He is God.
Verse 8: When God is ready to move, He comes down low to meet us where we are in our weakness. He will stir up enemies for the stage of our deliverance and repositioning to receive answered prayers and promises. He prepares a place/table and He does not bless in silence. He must show off His masterpiece.
Verse 9: When God is ready, He reveals that He knows what is going on with us. We know nothing is a surprise to Him. He knows before we get there and how long we will reside.
Verse 10: God will also reveal His answer and way of escape or deliverance and advise us in the transition.
Verse 11: God wants a yes. So often we question God and try to figure out why He chose us and what He is up to. We do not need to know all things but enough to walk by faith. He reveals to us what we need to know and reserves all else for Himself.
Verse 12: God affirms that we cannot to anything without Him. This is why we do not have to contemplate or consider our own abilities. Moses questioned his authority to go to Pharaoh because Pharaoh was ruler, but our Father is absolute authority and above all. When God sends us out, everyone will recognize who sent us. God will make sure we are known and also guarantee us a personal relationship with Him as a reward as He did Moses.
